Norwich is easily reached by road, rail and air nationally and internationally.

  • By car – major trunk roads to the Norwich area are the M11, A11, A12, A140 (from London, the south, the ferry ports and the Channel Tunnel) and the A14, A47, A1/M1 (from the north and west).
  • By train – fromLondon direct trains take approximately 1 hour, 50 minutes and run every 30 minutes to and from London’s Liverpool St Station. Norwich Railway Station is located in central Norwich, a 10 minute walk from the city centre.
  • By air – Norwich International Airport offers domestic routes from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Exeter, Jersey and Manchester. Norwich/Amsterdam allows to you to then fly on to 400 international destinations.
  • By coach – National Express coaches travel to Norwich from London and other major cities several times daily. The London to Norwich journey time is around 3 hours. All coaches stop at Norwich’s Bus Station at Surrey Street. The bus station houses an information desk, café, secure cycle storage and comfortable waiting facilities.
  • By bus – a good local network covers Norwich. Check with Traveline (0870 60 82 608) for up to date timetables. A variety of tickets can be bought on the bus or at the Bus Station in Surrey Street. In Norwich many local buses stop in Castle Meadow.
  • By bike – the Norwich area is on the National Cycle Network, Hull to Harwich route and the North Sea Cycle Route.

Shopping

  • High street stores, designer brands, independent shops and unusual gifts are all on offer in the city. Outside of London’s Oxford Street, Norwich is the only place in the UK to have four national department stores as well as a local independent department store, Jarrold, within its city centre.
