My course is intriguing, it encourages me to engage well with the context. The gardens are beautiful and refreshing.

What could be improved?

Students generally do not socialise much, they don't exploit free time very well, neither do they go out much during freshers, the clubs aren't too great (music is repetitive). Leicester being a high ranking university, I expected it to accommodate students of similar criteria, but I was wrong, EXTREMELY WRONG; nothing sets apparent Leicester students from metropolitan uni students. It is very difficult to get hold of support, or even a small amount of time from seminar leaders or professors. They are very careless, reluctant to empathise with students and are rude towards average/low performing students.

What was really good about the experience?

The freshers fair was well organised. If students are interested in British army without severely interfering with study, then EMU OTC army offers a great opportunity in Nottingham for Leicester students. The gym is fantastic, there's a high availability of equipment. The library is open 24 hours, it is huge and spacious, there is a large demand for PC's. There is a bus stop on University road which can come in handy. The campus is next to Q.E sixth form college, in case if you need help at the library with your work from a minor. On campus banks saved my life. I recommend visiting the 'jump-in lift' at the media building.

What could be improved?

Researching on other university accommodation, living in Leicester proves to be dear or perhaps it's the poor-average surrounding areas that make students feel it's a low value for money. It is ironic that the students living in the city come across as rude/immature compared to posh, preened Oadby ; social life cannot be amended. The engineering department appears to be poorly invested in, hidden behind the library, it shares a dull appearance with the rest of the city. Having low entry requirements for this particular subject, you must be wary of pretentious students. However, University of Leicester has fantastic prospects for general engineering; unfortunately, other branches of this subject are shy of entering the league table. The physics department is fairly average but it's nothing to feel special about, especially after acquiring your hard earned A levels. Professors muster each and every indivisible quantum packet of their energy into finishing a scrambled lecture so they can leave early to play Tetris on their work machines. The quality of lectures needs improving, it is unacceptable and frustrating for students that lecture slides are identical to those in a charitable handout book. Surely the timetable for physics students could be simpler, equivalent to those for every other student?

What was really good about the experience?

The fact that the lecturers are all leaders in their field and are giving us the latest research that they are actually really interested in because they have just discovered it. Beautiful and safe campus, with lots of societies and places to socialise. Close to the city but the surrounding area is very pretty with the park and trees!

Parking could be better around the university, as well as more places for groups to meet for group projects or people to sit and eat a packed lunch.

Everything. Great teaching staff in a great city. The lecturers I've had are all really friendly and accessible and will go out of their way to help students.

What could be improved?

Not much. Parking could be given for students, but there isn't a great deal that the university can do about that.

The amazing quality of teaching meant that you really felt you were getting your money's worth out of every lecture and seminar. The university is full of really up-to-date services and buildings, such as the SU and the library.

The sports facilities could be improved...which the University listened to and now we are getting brand new facilities being built, opening in the summer!!
