The Liverpool Bursary

  • The Liverpool Bursary scheme offers additional funds to support those within specific household income brackets for entry 2013/14.
  • Around a third of the University’s students will benefit from the Liverpool Bursary, depending on their household income.

  • Students studying on an NHS-funded programme will not be eligible for the Liverpool Bursary.
  • Care Leavers' Opportunity Bursary The Care Leavers' Opportunity Bursary scheme offers additional funds to support students who have been in public care. The bursary is worth £3,000 per year and can be taken as either a cash award or as a fee waiver.
  • Eliahou Dangoor Scholarship Thanks to a generous £3 million donation by Dr Naim Dangoor, the Eliahou Dangoor Scholarships Scheme will assist up to 4,000 students at Russell Group and 1994 Group institutions across the UK. As a participant in the scheme, the University will offer 30 new scholarships annually, each valued at £1,000 and tenable for one year.
  • The John Lennon Memorial Scholarship 2013-14 The John Lennon Memorial Scholarships were set up by a trust fund endowed in the University for the provision of scholarships in the memory of John Lennon. The award is intended to support students in financial need and enhance, among other things, awareness of global problems and environmental issues.
  • Hillsborough Trust Fund The Hillsborough Trust Fund is intended to support students who are permanently resident in Merseyside who are in financial need.
  • Sir Joseph Rotblat Alumni Scholarship 2013–14 The Sir Joseph Rotblat Alumni Scholarship, which has been made possible through the generous donations of alumni through the Benefactors' Fund, has been launched to specifically support alumni of the University who are returning as postgraduate research students; recognising both their academic merit and financial need.
  • Other scholarships and bursaries A range of smaller University of Liverpool Scholarships and Bursaries are also available to undergraduate students.
  • International Scholarships The University of Liverpool administers and participates in many scholarship schemes for international students. For more details of all of these awards visit the international scholarships pages of our website.
  • Departmental Scholarships Some departments offer prizes awarded on the basis of your performance at the end of each academic year. Details of the availability of such prizes are available from the admissions contacts in each department.
  • Sports Scholarships The Sport Liverpool Scholarship Scheme is designed to help talented athletes combine excellence in academic study and sporting performance by offering the flexibility and support required to compete at the highest level. Scholarships of up to £3,000 a year are available to student athletes who have already established themselves as a junior or senior international, or are playing at national or regional representative level. Once an award has been offered, a specific package of support will be agreed between the athlete and the University's performance sports development officer.
