What was really good about the experience?

The lecturers have always been helpful to the needs of the course and make themselves available to contact for any queries. The course itself is very well structured to aid relevant learning and address key topics. The course and module leaders work hard to ensure that every student will have access to placements in local hospitals which improves our experience in the field and our employability. The course is accredited by the HCPC. The university itself seems to be very centred around providing education that is of high standard and presenting chances to improve the employability of graduates. There are also a range of access courses available at this university which provide a gateway to other courses accepted at various universities across the UK. The student union bar always seems to put on events but that been said I've never attended so can't comment on that. There are however, two pool tables, a music lounge and an outdoor garden where students are welcome to relax and take a break from studies. North campus is easily accessed by the tube, London overground, local buses and is even cycle friendly. There is hot and cold food available from the cafes on campus from 9-6pm on weekdays and there is also a costa in the blue met lounge. The library and student services available at this campus have been very helpful in my experience. There are lots of useful textbooks which can be located easily and reserved if out of stock. There are countless computers dotted around the campus in addition to the computers that can be found in the computer labs.

What could be improved?

The buildings are in need of refurbishment. Tower building at north campus does indeed look like a council estate and not a place of education. I do think that a fresh coat of paint will help improve the atmosphere of the area, in a pleasant, neutral colour of course. That being said, a bright London Met purple building would add a vibrancy to the area.

What was really good about the experience?

Absolutely amazing teaching facilities. The super lab is so massive compared to other UK universities. I didn't have to struggle finding a place to work during my final year lab-based research project. Chemistry teaching is simply outstanding. The assessment standards are probably the highest in London and that is advantageous because you want to get the best of your university experience, you want to take in as much information as possible. All my lecturers were exceptionally helpful (as long as you want to help yourself of course)! We had great guest lecturers from NHS hospitals, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine etc. In my second year we even had a field trip around medical history sites in London which was really nice. I mostly enjoyed Clinical/Metabolic Biochemistry, Systems Pathology, Infection Science and my research project modules because lectures were stimulating and engaging. My final year project supervisor allowed me to do a project on something I wanted, which is again so nice. Overall, very nice experience. I am very fortunate to be London Met alumnus!

What could be improved?

The tower building and the inside court should be painted, windows should be changed. University management should be a bit more customer-oriented.

What could be improved?

The location of the university although very close to the City of London and Shoreditch is a bit secluded in terms of local amenities and community. The buildings are out of date and the facilities ageing. The administration department of the university is verging on useless and timetabling is poor. For a semester one of my lecturers was off ill - subsequently a completely inadequate replacement was found, causing me and many more of my fellow students to fail a whole module. London Metropolitan seems to have a very impersonal feel in terms of social life and community within the university environment. If one's course could be found at another university, I would advise that London Metropolitan was not a first choice - try somewhere outside of London maybe.
