The full-time MBA has evolved over many years and this current year has undergone a re-design to take into account developments in the business world, latest academic learning and the needs and wants of MBA aspirant candidates, their employers and sponsors. The new programme commences in September 2013 and is the ideal programme for leaders of the future.

  • As you would expect from any respected MBA, fundamental aspects of strategic management are taught at high levels across the programme, through a blend of academic and industrial expertise.

Our successful MBA graduates will be ready to:

  • take on completely new and unexpected situations,
  • go beyond analysis and strategy to work with others to make things happen,
  • share their knowledge with colleagues, team and organisation to develop their collective ability to make a difference.

Who is the programme for?

People with at least 3 years postgraduate experience in business who may be:

  • technical or functional specialist moving into general management roles,
  • moving to or aspiring to a senior management role,
  • developing your ability to make a difference in your current role,
  • exploring new career options,
  • leaders wanting academic knowledge and best practice.

Modules

  • The programme is modular in structure, comprising 180 credits, which are studied on a full-time basis.

All students will take the following compulsory modules (110 credits):

  • Personal and professional transformation
  • Business in action
  • NBS8123 Strategic human resource management
  • NBS8125 Operations management
  • NBS8126 Strategic management
  • NBS8128 Global political economy
  • NBS8124 Strategic marketing
  • NBS8122 Accounting and finance
  • NBS8534 Global strategic design
  • Competing with IT
  • NBS8159 Organisational behaviour in practice

Students will take three elective modules (30 credits) from a range that can include:

  • Management consultancy
  • Business process modelling
  • Finance and investment
  • International marketing
  • Leadership in action
  • Current affairs, news and organisations
  • Corporate responsibility, sustainability and governance in organisations

The capstone element of our MBA programmes involves a choice of opportunities for you to use your learning to great effect. This will be a significant project of 40 credits, on a mutually agreed subject by way of the following methodological options:

  • Corporate project
  • Entrepreneurial project
  • Global Experience project
  • Societal challenge project
  • Industry study
  • Dissertation

In 2013, the Executive MBA has undergone an innovative and relevant re-design to take into account developments in the business world, latest academic learning and the needs and wants of MBA aspirant candidates, their employers and sponsors. The new programme commences in September 2013 and is the ideal programme for busy business professionals and leaders of the future.

The graduate of the Newcastle University Executive MBA:

  • Has the ability to take on a completely new and unexpected situation and do something positive and productive with it.
  • Can go beyond analysis and strategy to work with others to make things happen (ideas successfully applied).
  • Is ready to share their knowledge with colleagues, team and organisation to develop their ability to make a difference.

Who is the programme for?

People with at least five years postgraduate experience in business, although most will have significantly more, who may be:

  • Technical or functional specialist moving into general management roles.
  • Moving to or aspiring to a senior management role.
  • Developing your ability to make a difference in your current role.
  • Exploring new career options.
  • Leaders wanting academic knowledge and best practice.
