History
- The former University of Lincolnshire and Humberside became the University of Lincoln in 2001.
- The Lincoln campus was
officially opened by HRH The Queen in 1996.
Location and Transport
- There are three campuses in Lincoln, one in Hull and one in Holbeach.
- Lincoln has regular train services to London, Birmingham, Newcastle and more. The A1 is nearby and linked to Lincoln via the A46.

- The university provides more than 1,000 modern en-suite rooms ranging from £1,151 to £1,266 per term.

Entry standards
League Table
- Undergraduate
degree courses range from 200 to 300 points.
- Minimum GCSE
requirements: three GCSEs at grade C or above, including English
Language.
- The university
welcomes applications from students who may not have the required academic
qualifications, but who are able to demonstrate work experience or
learning that is relevant, current and appropriate.

Bursaries and Scholarships
In receipt of full Maintenance Grant: £329
- Tuition fees (2010): £3,290
- Placement year and year abroad tuition fee
will be around £650.
- The University is
committed to the £1,500 per academic year 'Blackburn Scholarship', to which
students previously in local authority care are entitled.
- A minimum of £2 million of additional fee
income earmarked for bursaries for those in receipt of Maintenance Grant.

Teaching standards League Table
- The university received the highest commendation possible in its
recent QAA audit.
- The central aim of its Teaching and Learning Strategy 2007–2012 is
to produce independent, enquiring, knowledgeable graduates.
- A key role of the niversity's Centre for Educational Research and
Development is to enhance the teaching and learning experience for staff and
students.
Research standards League Table
- Dynamic growth, both in research income and number of research publications from academic staff, indicates the thriving and developing research culture of the university.
- Research excellence is a key element in long-term success, and the university’s research strategy has been directed towards achieving a strong outcome in the Research Assessment Exercise 2008.
- Appointment
of more than 50 top-ranking Substantive Professors and installation of 60
eminent Visiting Professors since 2001.
Academic strengths
- Marketing, Accounting and Psychology were rated among the best in
the country in this year's NSS results.
- The
Specialist Food Technology Centre at the Holbeach campus was highly commended
in awards this year
Student facilities, including Library and Computing League Table
- More than £100 million has been spent in the last ten years to provide students with state-of-the-art facilities.
- In
January 2008 the £6 million Lincoln Performing Arts Centre officially opened,
housing the university's School of Performing Arts, offering cinema facilities
and providing conference and exhibition space for the university and
businesses.
- In 2004, the award-winning university library opened in the former Great Central Warehouse building, following a £5-million restoration project.
Disability Services
- A team of advisors specialising in physical impairment, hearing impairment, specific learning differences, and general advice and information, Dart, has a dedicated centre at the main campus and offers at drop-in service at the Hull campus.

Students’ Union
- The university’s £6-million Engine Shed is home to the union. It is Lincoln’s biggest multi-purpose entertainment venue at the heart of the main campus.
- In November 2007 the Student Opportunities,
Activities and Participation Centre (SOAP) opened and houses the AU, Education and Welfare Officers and Community
Volunteers in one centre.
- The Athletic Union looks after all the union’s sports clubs and societies – they range from American football to karate.

Sport
- The Sports and Recreation Centre has some of the best facilities in the county including a gym, squash courts, dance studio, football pitches and basketball courts.
- The new state-of-the-art Human Performance Centre provides a Regional Centre of Excellence in Sport, Coaching and Exercise Science.
Recent/prospective new builds
- In
January 2008 the £6 million Lincoln Performing Arts Centre officially opened,
housing the university's School of Performing Arts and offering facilities for
the public and businesses.
- Enterprise@Lincoln, the new physical hub for the university's
enterprise and employer engagement activity will be ready in late 2009.
- £3.5m training facility at Holbeach – the National Centre for Food
Manufacturing – is due to open early 2009.
Availability of part-time work
- The university offers work to students on a casual basis as Student Crew.
- There are numerous bars, restaurants, shops and clubs providing opportunities for part-time work.
