Research standards League Table
- All faculties are involved in research. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise three subject areas (Applied Mathematics, Allied Health Professions and Studies, and European Studies) were judged to be world class and among the top research groups in their subject areas in the UK.
- In Applied Mathematics, where the Institute of Cosmology & Gravitation does internationally recognised research in cosmology, Portsmouth is equal first with Cambridge, Durham and Oxford, with the highest total (75%) for research that is internationally excellent and world-leading.
- The university also scored highly in Earth Systems and Environmental Sciences, and in Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering, with much of their research judged to be excellent and world class.

the Set Up for Life umbrella.
It offers many services and functions to assist students in developing their
career prospects whilst studying and with finding a job after graduation.

consultants collaborate with businesses to offer a variety of graduate, work
experience and voluntary positions both in the local area and throughout the
