Graduate Prospects

Career options

Before deciding on the course of your choice, it is worth considering the opportunities that will be open to you once you graduate – the career options that go together with your prospective subject (or subjects). The Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS), the professional association for higher education (HE) careers practitioners, together with Graduate Prospects, the UK's leading provider of information, advice and opportunities to students and graduates, provide a wealth of information and resources in the areas of careers education, information, advice and guidance in HE and related sectors.

Here, as a guide, we provide a brief summary of each subject area. Within each subject profile you will find links to take you to more information. Select from the subjects on the navigation bar to the left to discover:

  • How you might best use a degree in your chosen area.
  • The types of skills you could expect to develop.
  • What kinds of career your degree would qualify you for.
  • The prospects for your chosen career.

Those of you planning to studying for a combined degree might find it useful to look at more than one subject. If you are not sure which subjects are in which group see our Hesa Subject Listing.

To see how individual universities rate within each subject area, look at the latest Subject Tables
