What was really good about the experience?

[STOKE CAMPUS] The course is really good as the lecturers are fully committed as they've spent time in the industry and they will offer you the very best of advice if you show that you want it. They will not spoon feed you it if you hardly turn up and don't take what's given. My advice is make the most of it; turn up to optional lectures, exceed your deadlines, push yourself and you'll get priceless experience. Make full use of the excellent library that's open 24/7. Bearing that in mind, the social life will give you a great chance to fully chill out with all the people you meet. Hanley is a really good night out.

What could be improved?

I've heard some pretty bad horror stories about the university accomodation, so there's loads of room for improvement there. However, I kind of wished I'd have stayed in halls, as the social life seemed far more buzzing than in Liberty Court (private). The price of halls is nothing short of robbery compared to sharing one of the student houses with some friends nearby the campus (highly recommended for 2nd year students).

What could be improved?

Our course was very unorganised and complaints were not listened to. I felt extremely let down by a poor level of teaching in some of the modules. There were never any straight answers when questions were asked and we were taught at a level far too low to be 2nd year so when we came to final year degree level we were extremely behind and struggling. I would not recommend this university for this course - other courses may have been much better - and choice option modules were fantastic, But the structure was not suited and it did not live up to the expectations we were given on open day. Complete lack of support, I could not get out of there quick enough. It was a shame as I love to learn and always try and better myself in terms of education- unfortunately this was not up to scratch and has put me off working within the industry I am now qualified in. I will now be taking a different route!

What was really good about the experience?

Staffs Uni is an incredibly friendly campus with great lecturers who are not only knowledgeable, but also have a passion for their subject. The lecturers are always approachable and willing to share their knowledge about their chosen subject. We also have a great bar with amazing food and drink. Their is also a mature student society within the student union that helps mature students when they start uni. We're not the poshest, but we are the best!

What was really good about the experience?

Excellent pastoral support from lecturers. I wouldn't have finished my course without their help. Lecturers are always available for personal tutoring and guidance. They quickly get to know individual students and their background and are always approachable. Crime scene and laboratory facilities are first-class. Always enough equipment and time available for students.

What could be improved?

Quantity of subject specific textbooks in the library. There are no tutorials on this course, except for revision sessions around exam time. Most modules don't require tutorials but some would benefit from regular sessions.

What could be improved?

The course content and techniques all needs to be updated. When we were told by teaching staff that we would need to scrap all of our course work and start again before applying for a job it didnt make sense. After several positive interviews that turned sour after showing work it became clear (i was even told) that the university had tought extremely outdated techniques that were not up to industry standard. I remember one tutour teaching the whole three years from a book that can be purchased from amazon. I feel that I would have been better off teaching myself at home and payin gless money for short courses in London.
