National Student Survey
The table below shows the results of the National Student Survey (NSS) taken by final-year students at British universities during 2011.
- The survey covers statements such as "the course is intellectually stimulating", "staff have made the subject interesting" and "I have been able to contact staff when I needed to".
- Students rate their institution on a five-point scale.
The survey has been carried out annually since 2005 and there are signs that it is being used by prospective students as some universities with large increases in applications have shown a corresponding good result in the NSS.
- Full details of the survey are published on Unistats with summary information available from the Higher Education Funding Council for England.
The NSS covers nearly all final-year undergraduates studying for higher education qualifications at HEIs and FECs in England, HEIs in Wales and Northern Ireland, 12 institutions in Scotland, and the independent University of Buckingham. Students on initial teacher training courses funded by the Training and Development Agency for Schools, and students studying NHS-funded subjects are also included.
- Listed below are only those institutions appearing in The Complete University Guide League Tables.
- The figures are the average based on questions 1–15 and 19–22.
