Research Excellence framework

The 2015 league tables use the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise to compute the overall score. This can give a distorted view of university ranking due to the age of the data. The Research Assessment Exercise has been replaced by the Research Excellence Framework (REF) who have published the 2014 results. Should you not be reflecting this data in the League Tables or at least making a reference to it to give some validity to it. The tables are listed as a 2015 guide and should therefore reflect the latest data available from 2014?

Thank you for contacting us. The 2015 League Tables were published almost 12 months ago and are so-named because they are intended to aid UCAS applicants for 2015 university entrance.

The 2016 Tables will be published very shortly (with the 2016 cohort of UCAS applicants in mind) and will of course use REF instead of RAE 2008 data.
