Buying Textbooks for university in the UK

I currently live in the US and I'm in the process of applying for schools in the UK. I was selling back some of my textbooks for my undergrad which got me wondering how the textbook system works in the UK. Do students typically just go to the book store? I typically use Amazon, but are there other more notable sites in the UK that students use? Is selling or renting your textbooks just popular in the US?

I think you will find that the reliance on textbooks experienced in the US is not replicated in the UK where practices are quite different. Depending on the course you are taking, you may not be required to buy any text books.

But, when you do, there's always Amazon. And indeed students who have come to the end of their course often sell on their books at a much cheaper price.
