Deffering after accepting a place

My daughter has 4 unconditional offers for university, but is very worried about leaving home. She does not want to give up on her dream. However if she accepts a place this year for September 2015. can she defer at the last minute if she finds it all too much?
Answered by Alison Patterson
She would be best to accept an offer and see how she feels later in the year. Normally a university would agree to a deferral in these circumstances, even if it was late in the day.

Often, we find that young people don’t feel ready to go to university six months in advance, but feel much better about it as it draws near (it might be a different story on the day of departure, of course, but if that doesn’t change the general point that how she feels now is probably not a good guide to how she will feel in September when all her friends are excited about going).
