Are American SAT exams acceptable for admission to a U.K. university?

Will British universities accept the SAT exam for admission? My son's scores are in the 700+ range. He has three APs.

Thank you for your assistance.

Answered by Alison Patterson
British universities are more than familiar with US entry qualifications, in particular SATs. Don't worry your son will certainly be considered by UK unis.

Most universities publish their entry requirements for US qualifications on their websites. In general, universities will make decisions based on SAT/ACT, APs and High School GPA. Individual universities will have their own requirements and within them individual course entry requirements may be more specific.

Cambridge, one of the most selective universities in the UK, gives guidance on its general entry requirements at:
www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/usa

Remember that course entry requirements may be more specific and if you cannot find the information on the university websites you should email the course admissions tutor for confirmation that he has met the entry requirements before applying through UCAS.
