University transfer mid course, is it possible?

My son has finished his first year at Canterbury Christchurch with a 2:1. He has been offered a place at Essex which is higher ranked - would it be beneficial to change?
Answered by Alison Patterson
Transferring is a real gamble because you don't know how he will settle. He will have to make new friends and adjust to a different course. There is no guarantee that it will be a better course.

You could look at the data - is the NSS better at Essex? Are the graduate destinations better?

On the whole, if he is happy where he is he may come out with a better degree from Canterbury. Employers are looking for good personal performance as much as the university.

In the end it's a personal choice.
