How are "entry standards" calculated in university league tables?

How do you calculate "entry standards" in your league tables? I want to work out what AAA or AAB or ABB or any other combination of A-level results means in numbees.
Answered by Alison Patterson
Note that there is a difference between entry standard (the results of students actually admitted) and entry requirements (quoted in university admissions material but not used in our rankings).

Our methodology is at:

Read this.

A* counts for 140 points. Some students take four or five A levels.

I hope this helps.
