What subject/university

My son has completed a BTEC Uniformed Services, gaining triple distinction 2 stars. He originally wanted to join the navy but has a medical condition that will not allow him, so now he wants to go university but we are not sure what course/subject to do. He has over 5 GCSE A-C from school including maths and English....help? He wants to go to university but then link it with a career.

Hi Warren,

Your son has a good BTEC grade and a strong GCSE performance, and lots to offer qualitatively - he should be positive. I’d suggest a meeting with a careers adviser to look at what he enjoys.

Some BTEC diploma students in uniformed services find something like sociology/psychology/politics combined popular. Also consider logistics, paramedic studies, politics and international relations, sociology, social policy, police studies, peace studies etc.

We believe that there will be opportunities available and your son should be optimistic.

Good luck,
