unconditional offer, are you legally obliged to go if you Accept?

If you receive an unconditional offer, are you legally obliged to go if you accept?

My son is questioning if he definitely wants to go to university or join the army. If he accepts his unconditional offer, does he definitely/legally have to go?
Answered by Alison Patterson
Hi Ali,

No, he can withdraw if he has a change of heart. He will have to contact the university and go through the formalities with UCAS, but it might mean two phone calls in total.

We would advise that he hangs on to the offer until he is absolutely certain that he does not need/want it.

Thanks,
CUG
