Deferring and reapplying

I got into my first choice university, Durham. However, I have now decided I want to take a gap year before starting. I have emailed to ask about deferring and this is still being decided, however if they do accept my request am I able to then reject my deferred offer at a later date and reapply via UCAS for a different course? As I am not entirely certain the course I have chosen is the right one. I would rather have the deferred offer with the opportunity to change my mind and reapply for a different course if I were to decide to reject it, then no offer at all.

Hello Sophie,

You cannot re-apply to UCAS while holding a deferred offer. To optimise your chances of the best places in 2017, you should apply early. Therefore, you need to have a plan fairly quickly if you are going to decline the deferred place from Durham.

You need some careful thinking time now.

Hope this helps,
