Ready to apply

My son finishes school in the summer of 2017 and he is ready to apply to university. Due to the political developments we are not sure if there will be an obligatory military service in 2017. Shall he apply for 2017 and defer the application (which is the latest deadline?) or apply for 2018 and if there is no service ask for the offer to become valid for 2017?

Hello Andreas,

If your son wants to apply for university entrance in 2017 and you believe there is a good chance that this will be possible, you should apply now for 2017 entry.

If his circumstances change and he needs to defer because of compulsory military service, he can ask for a deferment to 2018 and I am sure universities will be sympathetic.

Apply online through UCAS at www.ucas.com.

Best of luck to him,

CUG
