Applying for UK uni from NY

I'm a college counsellor in New York City, working with a student who wants to apply to ONLY UK unis. I need advice on course selection, testing and uni selection.

Hi Elizabeth,

Take a look at this section:

www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/international.../

They will have to apply online through UCAS at www.ucas.com

Read up on UCAS guidelines at:

www.ucas.com/

The process is comparable to Common App. An applicant can apply to up to five choices using one application. Unlike the US, applicants apply for a course.

Use a Course Search to find a course and check entry requirements. Most university websites contain general entry requirements for students applying with US qualifications, but it is sensible to check with course admission teams that they are appropriately qualified.

UCAS Course Search:

search.ucas.com/

or

www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/courses/search

The applicant will need to prepare a personal statement and, separately, a teacher or other relevant person will need to submit an academic reference.

I hope this helps.
