Results between your first and insurance choice

If your first choice offer is AAA, your insurance is ABB and your final results are AAB, can you ask a university who gave you an offer of AAB - but one you didn't put as an CI CF - for a place?
Answered by Alison Patterson
Hi Nick,

The UCAS rules are that you hold a CF university offer and a CI and if you are accepted by one of these you are bound to go. At results time, you should wait to hear the decisions of first your CF then your CI. It is quite possible that your CF university will decide to accept you even if you drop a grade.

At this stage you shouldn't overthink the process. The only way you can control the future at the moment is to work hard on your revision and aim to get the best results you can.

August is another time. At that time, you can phone universities to ask if they will consider you, you can go into Adjustment if you do better than expected. What is probably most likely is that your CF and/or CI will accept you. But you have flexibility in practice, despite the rules.

Take a look at what to do on Results Day: www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/universities/.../

The best advice I can give you for managing Results Day is to be at home/school and available to talk to universities. Don't go on holiday.

Good luck!
