Do you need a language GCSE?

My son's weakest subject is French. He is about to choose his GCSE options and the school are keen for him to take French but he really hates it. Is a foreign language needed for design or science related degrees?

Hi Claire,

No, it isn't although some universities have historically expressed a preference.

If your son needs more help on A levels, we have a section devoted to them: www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/a-levels-and-.../

Hope this helps,
