Business entry requirement GCSE

My son received AAA for recent AS which I presume is his predicted grade. He wants to apply to study business at a Russell Group university but got GCSE English and C Maths. Should he retake GCSE maths to hope for a B or concentrate on his A levels to get highest he can?

Hi there,

You may be interested in this document published by the Russell Group:
www.russellgroup.ac.uk/media/5272/informedchoices-...f

In particular look at page 23

All universities publish their (minimum) entry requirements on their websites. You should check what they say online.

You can also use a course search, such as:

www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/courses/searc...+(N100)

or

digital.ucas.com/search/results?filters=Destinatio...s

Unfortunately none offers the opportunity to search on Russell Group institutions, but the CUG Course Chooser displays the results of the search by rank order.

It is very important to ensure that you satisfy entry requirements before applying (you don't want to waste a UCAS choice). If he satisfies the minimum requirements for the universities he's interested in he should probably not consider re-taking the exams. He will be judged on his A level results and so should aim for the highest as you say.

We have some additional information on business degrees here: www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/courses/busin.../

Good luck!
CUG
