Universities get the results before you and they will have made their decision on your application by Results Day. You will be notified through UCAS at the same time as the results are published. You could find that your firm or insurance choices accept you even if you have dropped a grade. When results are released, you can find out if there are courses in Clearing and check whether the university will consider you if you are not accepted. It would be appropriate to phone them after Results Day to find out if they can offer you anything. See our Clearing section for more info.
