Changing course and applying through Clearing before Results Day
Jul 2019I am currently waiting for my A Level results. I have my conditional offers in hand and have chosen my firm choice. However, I would like to change my course of study. Can I do this before my results are out? I have tried contacting the university but they have not replied. I am happy to pursue this new course at other universities. Could you please advise what the best course of action would be?
If you are sure about changing your course, you can self-release into Clearing. This means UCAS will tell the universities that you no longer wish to take up those offers, and you will be automatically entered into Clearing. Read more about Clearing FAQs. Before you do this, check our Clearing Course Chooser to find universities offering courses in your area of interest. You can sort the Clearing courses available by your chosen subject area and expected grades. If you find a course you want to apply for, call the universities and speak to them about the courses you're interested in and ask if they will offer you a place. You can activate UCAS self-release and apply for the new course. You can always speak to your first choice university and ask if they'd offer you a place on a different course. Make sure you do your research before changing your mind and think carefully about this. You are best having an alternative before turning down your current offers.
