Clearing Success Story – Emileigh, Harper Adams University
Emileigh, from the East Midlands, got at place at Harper Adams University through Clearing.
What is your degree, and where are you studying?
BSc (Hons) Veterinary Nursing at Harper Adams University.
What degree had you originally applied for and where?
Veterinary Medicine at Surrey, Nottingham, Bristol and Liverpool and Veterinary Nursing with Bio-Veterinary Science at Bristol.
What circumstances led you to entering Clearing?
I applied through Clearing due to not achieving the required A Level grades needed for the original degree I applied for. But on Results Day I knew I wanted to attend university this year and so risked it on the chance that, with the help of my previous principal, a university would accept me in Clearing.
Did you do any preparation or research before Results Day?
I had done research when originally applying to uni which allowed me, on Results Day, to already know which universities offered Veterinary Nursing.
How did you find out what courses were available?
I looked on UCAS and their Clearing options, which let me filter the options to find the degree I wanted and which unis had it available in Clearing.
What factors made you finally settle on the course you chose?
The fact it was a degree I already really wanted to do and have a passion for it alongside the advancements seen in Veterinary Medicine and the one health concept.
Did the university offer a Clearing Open Day? If so, did you find it useful?
Yes, and it was very helpful as it allowed me to get a real feel for Harper Adams and gain a greater understanding of the degree and the modules involved within it.
Did you find a place to live easily?
Yes, I got the same application for first year accommodation as all the other students and got randomly allocated just the same.
How has your time at university been? Has it delivered what you were looking for and are you happy?
My first year at university has been amazing. I have grown as a person, made amazing friends across all years and found a degree I love.
