What circumstances led you to entering Clearing?

I ended up entering Clearing as I achieved BCD in my A Levels, and most of my choices wanted BBC or BCC.

Did you do any preperation or research before Results Day?

I did not do any preparation or research before Results Day as I was not that aware of the Clearing process, or what to do if you got rejection emails on the morning of Results Day.

Who helped you through Clearing?

When I entered Clearing, my Mum and Dad were my rock. They helped me see what universities were still open for Clearing and kept trying to dial through for me.

How did you find out what courses were available?

My Head of Sixth Form, Mr Menlove, was a brilliant help when I went to collect my results. He took me into a classroom and explained where I could see where my course had available places. This helped me a lot during the choosing process of where I wanted to go.

What was the main reason for choosing the course you chose?

I knew I wanted to go to Liverpool, as it is a city I love. My main reason for choosing the course and university was their website and the friendliness of the staff member on the other end of the phone. They welcomed me with a friendly tone and were so kind to me through the acceptance process. This was a big positive, and made me so excited to start at what seemed, and is, a really friendly place to be.

Did you attend a university or college Clearing Open Day? If so, did you find it useful?

I did not.

Did you find a place to live easily?

As I came through Clearing, I missed out to live on the main Hope Park campus. However, I was given a room at Aigburth Park, which is our residential campus not far from the main teaching campuses. My flat was on a floor with two other first year flats, so I did not miss out on the social side of living in halls of residence.

How has your time at university been? Have you enjoyed your course?

My time so far at university has been amazing. I have achieved so much. Not just academically, but also personally, as university definitely makes you become so much more independent! I cannot fault my course at all. We cover such a wide range of topics in both the film and media side of the course. The academics are so supportive and are there if we need some guidance.

What would be your top tip for students in the lead up to Results Day?

My top tip for students in the lead up to Results Day is to look at all of the options available, whether that is Clearing, differing, or just being accepted straight away. I wish I was aware of Clearing before Results Day. When I got rejections, I thought my chance to go to university was over, but that was certainly not the case! In addition, do not panic! Clearing is open for a few days after Results Day, or until the courses are at full capacity. So do not think it’s all over, there are options! And remember, everything happens for a reason. I am so happy at Hope and could not imagine myself anywhere else!
