Joyce, Mechanical Engineering

Clearing student Joyce graduated from Coventry University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering MEng (Hons). During her time at Coventry University she was awarded the Ada Lovelace and Phoenix Scholarships, undertook a placement year with Tata Technologies and even secured a graduate role with Altair before she graduated.

“I’ve genuinely had the greatest time at Coventry and have met the greatest friends I’ve ever had.  Working with a prestigious global conglomerate like Tata Technologies for my placement year is something I would never have thought would happen to me, and it showed me what career I wanted to go into in the future.

“Coventry University has helped me massively with coming to terms with the fact that I am worth so much more than just my three grades. I had such a lot to offer them and they saw the potential in me, which I couldn’t see myself.”

Adam, Paramedic Science

Adam is a current undergraduate student, who came through Clearing to study Paramedic Science at Coventry University. He has been involved in many extra activities during his degree at Coventry University and he is university Student Ambassador and President of the newly formed Student Paramedic Society.

“As a student ambassador, I help out at open days, doing call backs, chatting to prospective students, and I’m on the interview panel for new students and new lecturers coming onto the course as well.

“I also do some part-time medic work at the Ricoh Arena, covering some of their football and rugby matches.  Back in September we went to a three day conference where emergency service staff from all over the world gather together and learn, with a mixture of conferences and practical scenarios.”

Michael, Business Management

Michael joined Coventry University in Clearing is current studying Business Management at Coventry Business School. His international experiences during his degree have changed his life.

Michael has made the most of his university experience, including taking opportunities to learn more about different cultures while having a great time. He joined the Nepalese Society and Latino Society with friends of his and is part of the Global Leaders Programme.

“I’m a member of the GLP – the Global Leaders Programme. I was able to go to Brazil in April 2018 for around 10-12 days and honestly, I think it’s just changed my life.

“I have Brazilian friends in my background, family friends, but being able to go there and make more friends for life, it’s just incredible. I know that in the future we’ll be able to talk to each other and create plans with each other and just have that support internationally. From a university trip...I think that’s just amazing!”

Kinga, International Fashion Business

Kinga is in the first year of her International Fashion Business BA (Hons). Her ambition is to be a fashion buyer so the opportunities to gain fashion industry experience was one of the reasons she enrolled at Coventry University.

“The course offered a sandwich year which meant I could have a year in the fashion industry to gain experience.  You also get to spend your final year studying in London, which, originally being from Poland, gives me some great international experience. It is really important in fashion to have this experience as it is a very fast paced industry.”
