Course Summary

Occupational therapists work to improve the everyday life skills of people who suffer with physical, social, and psychological difficulties. This degree is accredited by the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the College of Occupational Therapists. It’s been developed to give you the sophisticated knowledge, analytical and practical skills needed to critically assess a patient’s circumstances in order to help them adapt to their environment and maximise their performance potential. You’ll be taught by highly-qualified lecturers and practitioners, and delve into a variety of exciting disciplines on which occupational therapy is based. You’ll gain hands-on practice using our excellent clinical simulation facilities, and gain real world experience through 1000 plus hours in professional placements. We’ll also equip you with all the desired technical, managerial and communication skills needed to enter practice after graduation. There are a wide range of roles open to you once you qualify as an occupational therapist, not just in the NHS but also within local authorities, social services, schools and the private sector. Every role is rewarding in its own way and this course will prepare you to work as an OT in a variety of environments, helping people from all walks of life. You can specialise in paediatrics, mental illness and learning disabilities, among others, or you can go into teaching or research. 96% of our final year students are satisfied with the overall quality of the course according to the latest National Student Survey (NSS, 2018).
