If you’re going to be an accountant or economist it’s vital you understand how organisations are financed and managed. That’s what’s at the core of our degree. We’ll look at how companies are run, and then give you the opportunity to choose particular topics to study in more detail. How will you learn? The Partners in Accountancy firms will offer accountancy students direct input to their studies from leading case studies on technical and professional areas and providing careers support. - The course doesn't just focus on accounting techniques – we also look at some essential skills for the workplace, including communication and presentation skills. - In your third year we’ll give you the opportunity to take a placement year that could see you working in a business and gaining real world experience. Our course provides you with a range of professional exemptions from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA). What subjects will you cover? You’ll explore subjects such as Financial Accounting, Accountants in Organisations, Advanced Corporate Reporting, Management Accounting, Quantitative Analysis, Econometrics, Micro and Macro Economics, Decision Science and the Legal Environment of Business and Employment for Accountants. *HESA - First awarded in 2016, maintained in 2017 and 2018. Professional links and accreditation: This degree provides a basis for a wide choice of careers in the fields of professional accountancy, finance, banking, insurance, public sector and general management. It enables graduates to enter for the examinations of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) with maximum possible exemptions, and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).* These accreditation's are reviewed on a regular basis. *Subject to confirmation.
