As an accounting or finance specialist in your chosen organisation you could be involved in a varied range of tasks. For example, creating and managing cash budgets or carrying out financial audits. This course will provide you with a thorough grounding in all areas of accounting and finance before offering you the opportunity to specialise. You will graduate with a real idea of what lies behind any successful organisation – how it is financed and managed. How will you learn? You will learn through practical application and delivered lectures, workshops, seminars and group work sessions. You’ll be able to connect with leading accounting firms thanks to our Partners in Accountancy scheme. The Partners in Accountancy firms will offer accountancy and finance students direct input to their studies from leading case studies on technical and professional areas and providing careers support. In your third year we’ll give you the opportunity to take a placement year that could see you employed in a graduate level position in an organisation. *Our course provides you with a range of professional exemptions from the main accountancy bodies and is designed to give you an exceptional start to your accountancy career including the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) and the Association of International Accountants (AIA). It’s all designed to help you to develop your professional knowledge and your employability. What subjects will you cover? You’ll explore subjects such as Financial Accounting, Corporate Finance, Accountants in Organisations, Issues in Accounting and Finance, Financial Management and Corporate Reporting and Governance. *HESA - First awarded in 2016, maintained in 2017 and 2018. Professional links and accreditation: This degree provides a basis for a wide choice of careers in the fields of professional accountancy, finance, banking, insurance, public sector and general management.
