Course summary

This BA Accounting and Management programme combines two key areas of business to prepare you for a successful future career. This multidisciplinary degree examines a range of issues from both an accounting and a business perspective, as well as exploring the interrelationships between the professions of accountancy and management.

The accountancy element covers the core areas of financial reporting, management accounting and business finance. The management element will enable you to explore areas such as marketing, organisational behaviour, strategy, information systems, human resource management, entrepreneurship and ethics.

After the first year, a range of optional management and finance modules will allow you to tailor your degree to your areas of interest. The second and final years are designed to build on the commercial and academic knowledge you have already acquired and certain modules on this degree are professionally accredited, meaning you can claim exemptions from professional accountancy exams in the future if you achieve the required grades. This course offers the opportunity to apply for credit for prior learning from three major accounting bodies: ICAEW, ACCA and CIMA.

What career can you have?

A degree from Henley Business School is respected internationally and can provide a route into many areas, including accounting and professional services, banking, consultancy, finance, human resources, IT, investment banking, marketing, operations and, of course, general management. We recognise that undergraduate study is an important investment in your future career and we are therefore very proud of our outstanding graduate employment record, reflected in our consistently strong performance in the university league tables.

Many of our courses provide exemptions and/or credit for prior learning from professional bodies including the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
