Course summary

This course is your gateway to a career in the architectural profession, specifically in the role of an architectural technologist. You'll learn how buildings are created, procured, constructed and managed and develop a practical and imaginative approach to design, equipped with the skills and knowledge to create efficient design solutions.Based in our Grade II* listed Gothic Revival Style Arkwright building, you'll study in a studio culture that reflects a modern architectural technology practice, preparing you for your graduate career from day one. As a specialist in architectural technology, you'll be the link between concept and reality. You'll learn to identify, assess and challenge client and user requirements, translating ideas and possibilities into effective and practical building solutions.**Key features**- **Professional accreditation** | Our course is the only Architectural Technology course in the UK to be triple-accredited by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), recognising the quality and relevance of our course content.- **Inspiring spaces** | Work with our professional facilities and workshops, including a model making studio, 3D printing spaces, and dedicated computer labs featuring all the relevant software packages.- **Live projects** | Take part in industry-set design projects, with creative briefs from real clients. Recently, students have worked with Nottingham City Council, Gedling Country Park, and Nottingham-based charity Emmanuel House.- **Exciting trips** | We will endeavour to explore architecture and technology in practice on trips in the UK and internationally. Previous locations have included London and Liverpool.- **Placement year** | Gain vital skills and experience in the workplace by undertaking a one-year placement on our sandwich route. Previously, students have spent their placements at companies such as Foster + Partners, Benoy and Pozzoni Architecture Ltd.- **Study abroad** | Explore new cultures and gain design inspiration with the option to study abroad for a semester as part of the European Project Semester programme. Recently, our students studied at KEA Copenhagen School of Design and Technology in Denmark.- **Outstanding employability** | 96% of our BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology sandwich students are in graduate level employment within six months of finishing their studies (latest DLHE survey 2016-17).- **Exhibitions and shows** | Exhibit your work at our final year Degree Shows, our annual Architecture Exchange event, attended by industry experts and prospective employers.
