Pathway students enrol on the undergraduate BSc Hons Building Surveying at Glasgow Caledonian University. In the first two years, you study HND Building Surveying at City of Glasgow College while preparing to progress to year 3 of the degree.

Building surveying graduates enjoy excellent career prospects as building surveyors advising clients on both commercial and residential building issues.

Choose the building surveying college pathway if:

  • you are interested in building assessment, property development and conservation
  • you would like the option to study and work abroad
  • you enjoy learning in a hands-on practical way
  • you work best with lots of interaction from lecturing staff
  • you like working towards clear goals with a sense of achievement at the end of each year of study.

Professional accreditation

The Building Surveying degree is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). Graduates can go on to chartered membership status (MRICS/MCIOB).

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include coursework activities and formal examinations. Our students have many opportunities to enhance their employability by studying abroad. Through KAR Scholarship funding our students have worked in Ladakh in India and Guedelon in France; students have enjoyed placements in New Zealand while next year, two students will be attending Barcelona University for a six month Erasmus Exchange.
