The Course


The Research at Worcester has grown significantly in the last 10 years as the University itself has expanded. As a research student, they will join a vibrant student community in our Research School and become part of our dynamic research environment. Students will have the opportunity to be supervised by leading researchers in their field and take advantage of our rich Researcher Development programme which will help students to develop the skills and knowledge as they need to complete their research degree but also enhance the skills as students will need in any future career. The Institute of Science and the Environment has a strong mix of academics with a high degree of professional and personal experience, enabling students to get the most out of their programme. The staff has expertise in comparative zoology, ecosystem modelling, conservation, invertebrate biology, animal behaviour, physiological and behavioural ecology, and animal welfare, ecological monitoring and modelling techniques for evidence-based conservation management of invertebrates and birds. Students will get benefit from a professional and challenging relationship with their supervisory team, drawn from experienced academics working at the forefront of their disciplines. The Animal Biology team at Worcester have an excellent range of resources available to support their learning and their research project, including a number of laboratories equipped with a range of analytical equipment, a wildlife and conservation area and a greenhouse, access to Motion Research Laboratory, access to horse livery yard, a pool of eminent visiting lecturers, selection of skeletons.
