Primary Education at Aberdeen produces creative, motivated and highly-skilled primary teachers confident to work with children in any educational setting. Our MA Primary Education programme is accredited by the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), so on graduation you can apply for provisional registration as a primary teacher. There are also many professional learning and development opportunities. Teaching is an exciting and demanding job that requires a range of personal and professional qualities. At Aberdeen, you will develop teaching skills designed to help you get the best out of young learners in an exciting and stimulating environment. You will gain an in-depth understanding of what motivates younger students and learn various communication techniques to communicate with people on a number of levels. You will look too at teaching methods and issues including literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing and other topical concerns including inclusion, and social justice and learning.You will have the Aberdeen benefit of school placements in your final year that range from big city, small town, suburban, rural and island settings and give you the widest possible preparation for your future employment.
