- This course is pending accreditation by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIob) leading to full membership of the Institute. It’s also accredited as fully satisfying the educational base for an incorporated engineer (IEng). - An industry work placement will give you real life experience in civil engineering, surveying, construction and management. - This degree blends technical expertise with management skills, preparing you for managing civil engineering and construction projects.- Our commitment to high quality teaching has been recognised with a Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Gold rating. The University has received an overall rating of Gold, as well as securing a Gold award in the framework's two new student experience and student outcomes categories.
About this courseIf you’re interested in becoming a construction manager in the civil engineering and construction management industry, ensuring projects are completed on time, to budget and to a specified quality, this course is ideal. It combines an emphasis on management with grounding in the technical aspects of construction and civil engineering. You’ll be introduced to the skills and concepts of engineering and construction. These include applied mathematics, science for construction, Building Information Modelling (BIM), engineering drawing and construction management. You’ll also consider materials, structures, computing applications, professional practice, sustainability, health and safety, soil mechanics and construction techniques, including practical surveying. You’ll work on model-making exercises and use computer-aided design to communicate your ideas effectively. Your individual project will be focused on research into a specialised subject.
