Course Summary

The BA in Media and Society is for those who are interested in combining an in-depth study of the media with the exploration of wider sociological questions. Students will learn about a range of interdisciplinary theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of media and social issues and will obtain the ability to apply these to contemporary issues and debates. The course offers a diverse range of optional modules from both media and sociology which enables students to specialise their knowledge and deepen their understanding of the increasing mediation of society. The School of Media, Communication and Sociology at the University of Leicester is at the forefront of media and sociology research, with over 100 years of combined expertise in these subjects. This course has been designed to make the most of that expertise. Our supportive and stimulating learning environment will help you to develop the ability to work independently and will foster skills in critical analysis, communication, research methods, group work and employability.
