**Aeronautical engineers design, develop and manage civil and military aircraft. Get onboard for a successful, lucrative career in a global industry with a BEng (Hons) Aeronautical Engineering degree at Salford. Accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), our course is a gateway to professional Chartered Engineer status.** Aeronautical engineering combines essential mechanical engineering content with aeronautic specialisms. Delivered over three years – or four with a placement – you’ll study a suite of modules design to embed theoretical knowledge and creative application to help you become a world-class engineer. With a focus on real-world problems solving, you’ll explore how to improve fuel efficiency, ensure flight safety and apply using technology to take flight even further. As a leading regional centre for aeronautics, Salford has strong industry connections. Our 'With Professional Experience' option gives you the opportunity to take a placement year to apply what you’ve learnt and develop further skills, adding ‘with professional experience’ to your final degree award. With increasing career opportunities in both the UK and abroad, you can join other course graduates at prestigious organisations, including Airbus, BAE Systems, Rolls–Royce and the Royal Air Force. Features• Gain hands-on experience in our establish aeronautical and mechanical facility, featuring a Merlin MP520-T flight stimulator and an Elite Flight Training System • Have the opportunity to complete a flight test course using Cranfield University’s instrumented Jetstream 31 aircraft as its National Flying Laboratory Centre • Develop a deeper understanding of the theory of statics and dynamics and flight control as related to the dynamic behaviour of an aircraft • Learn about aircraft design, including detailed refinement of component design and major interactions that have a crucial influence on the overall design effectiveness • Assess aircraft performance by modelling aerodynamic loads and propulsion system performance, leading to key results in both steady and accelerated flight **This course is also available with an integrated Masters [MEng (Hons) Aeronautical Engineering]**
