Course Summary

Sociology with Social Policy: This is a degree that uses sociological understanding to enable you to understand and critique how society is delivering people's basic needs through social policy. We will examine policies on resource sharing (the welfare system), somewhere to live (housing policies), health promotion, and ensuring justice. The School of Social Sciences offers a friendly and informal environment and encourages you to develop your own interests. A degree in Sociology and Social Policy will prepare you excellently for a career in a wide range of fields. These include: Probation, Police, Learning, Research, Social Work, Civil Service, Media, Central and Local Government, Law Courts and Voluntary Organisations.

Welsh History: This degree offers the opportunity to study a wide range of periods with a specialism in Welsh History. This course enables you to understand the evolution of Wales, its politics, society, industry and religion through the centuries, and to place this in the context of developments in British, European and American History from the Middle Ages to the present day.
