**Why choose this course?**On this specialist course, you will acquire the creative skills and technical knowledge you need for a career in footwear and accessory design, and the production associated with the broad area of fashion. We encourage you to be creative, experimental and innovative, and give you the opportunity to enjoy your craft and refine your skills.Studying at the University of Northampton means you’ll be in the heart of a region which is synonymous with footwear, having a long and prosperous heritage of shoemaking. Northampton is also home to some of the most elite, internationally renowned footwear brands, some of which you may have the opportunity to work with during your course.In your first year you will study creative leather applications at the Institute for Creative Leather Technology, as well as a being introduced to core skills and theory. In your second year emphasis will be placed on your creative potential and individuality. Your final year will culminate in a major project. Your work may then be exhibited at Graduate Fashion Week or our annual degree show.We have close links with many local footwear and accessories brands, including Dr. Martens, Pittards and Church’s.
