This is because it’s more than green and lovely, it’s a place of research and academic excellence too.At Keele, studying a combined honours degree will include some modules from both of the single honours degrees. In this case, your programme will be made up of a combination of modules from both Education and English Literature.Keele’s Education and English Literature degree is a perfect combination if you want to explore and analyse literary texts from different periods of historyin depth whilst working towards a career in education. In studying English Literature you will explore the significance of texts within their originating cultures, periods and genres as well as their continuing influence. You might consider the historical, socio-political, economic, gender and geographical contexts of fiction, poetry, drama and even film, from the medieval period to the present day. You will have the opportunity, if you wish, to develop your skills as a creative writer, and you can take modules in Film Studies. Modules in Education focus on historical, socio-political and economic influences on outcomes and experiences of education. Education at Keele is distinctive because of its strong focus on contemporary issues in education and policy making and the unique combinations offered with a range of other subjects.You’ll graduate with a wide range of skills including oral and written communication, presentation, and advanced critical competencies. You will be able to communicate complex ideas effectively to different kinds of audience, producing persuasive arguments informed by careful research. You’ll be ready to take up a teaching career, a career in politics, the civil service, journalism and business. If you are thinking of travelling the world after graduation or teaching abroad, Keele’s Language Centre offers a variety of language courses.
