- Gain a sound understanding of tourism business management that balances theoretical study with practical work.- Explore the motivations of tourism consumers, tourism industry operations and the planning and development of tourism in various contexts.- Study key business developments to increase your general business acumen.Develop the specific knowledge and skills necessary to secure future employment within the international tourism sector, and gain an appreciation for the challenges and rewards of working in a fast-paced, people-centred industry.


How you learn

All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive.Learning and teaching is research-informed, as modules draw upon and relate to current research, including the work of our staff. Live projects

As part of the course, you get the opportunity to work on real business and consultancy projects to build your skills and professional experience.Recent students have contributed to developing the network of the UK Overseas Territories Conservation Forum, helped organise their annual conference in Gibraltar, and been involved in developing Operation Make Safe, which seeks to work with hotels, tour and transport operators to raise staff awareness of child protection issues.


Network opportunities

You will frequently engage with tourism industry stakeholders during your study. Many modules include industry guest speakers and field trips. You benefit from a close relationship with the industry through our staff members' industry network, our association with the Tourism Management Institute and our alumni network.
