Course Summary

Our Primary Education with Qualified Teaching Status (QTS) degree will **give you the skills to engage, motivate and inspire young learners**. The three-year degree will equip you with the depth of knowledge, skills and understanding required to become an outstanding and ambitious Primary Teacher. You will be given a range of opportunities to **gain significant experience teaching** in a wide range of our **partner schools**.From your second year, you have the **opportunity to specialise in a National Curriculum area**, or choose from Special Educational Needs or Early Years. Alongside Professional Placement Learning in schools, you will study three strands that run parallel throughout each year of the degree programme. Initial Professional Development is based around the four themes of Holistic Learning and Development; Inclusion, Diversity; The Child in Society; and Leadership and Management. Subject Knowledge, Curriculum and Teaching includes **training on how to plan, teach and assess all subjects** in the Primary National Curriculum. The **Hope Teacher** is based around the development of the values and professional knowledge skills and understanding required to become a Hope teacher, with a clear sense of moral purpose and a holistic view of the learner. There may be opportunities for you to travel to North America or Europe as part of our Student Teacher Exchange Programme and short two-week placements organised by the Faculty of Education.
