Course Summary

**Building Surveyors look at building pathology, focusing on refurbishment, reuse, development, restoration, repair, and conservation. As our growing cities adapt to the changing needs of the 21st century, our RICS-accredited BSc (Hons) Building Surveying Accelerated degree could open up a rewarding future.**Salford is a leading UK centre for surveying and we’re consistently ranked in the World Top 100 universities (QS 2018) for Architecture and Built Environment study. Providing a gateway to professional status, our Building Surveying course will advance your knowledge through a series economic, legal, technical design and management modules. Accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), and developed in consultation with industry, you’ll be educated to the highest professional standards.Through this course, led by international experts, you’ll gain a comprehensive knowledge base. You’ll learn about the construction industry and its legal and regulatory framework. You’ll explore the relationship between a building and its internal and external environments. You’ll recognise how to diagnose problems with existing buildings and be aware of conservation and regeneration.Covering the same content as a standard undergraduate degree, the accelerated degree is taught over three trimesters rather than two semesters. This more intense mode of study means that you can complete your degree in a shorter period of time, so you progress more quickly into work or further study. If you choose to study Building Surveying as a full-time accelerated degree, you will complete it in two years rather than three. Learning takes place in our Peel Park campus, minutes from buzzing Manchester, a property and construction hotspot recently voted the UK’s most liveable city.* Mirroring the collaborative real-world, you’ll complete projects and problem-solving activities alongside Salford’s other built environment students. We‘ll also encourage you to take an additional placement year to develop further professional and technical skills in the workplace.*The Economist’s Global Liveability Index 2018Features• Gain the knowledge and skills to describe, explain, evaluate, and apply building construction techniques• Learn to identify and use appropriate strategies and technologies applicable to building surveying practice• Develop an understanding of the interactions between a building and its internal and external environments• Gain the ability to identify symptoms and diagnose defects found in a diverse range of building types• Understand urban regeneration so you can participate in future sustainable regeneration initiatives• Complete your studies more quickly than a standard three-year degree
