Course summary
Our Energy and Environmental Engineering degree equips graduates with the skills and knowledge to be 21st-century engineers prepared to meet the environmental challenges of industry and society.
Course Overview
The Energy and Environmental Engineering programmes are intended to provide students with a thorough grounding in engineering principles and concepts and apply this to energy and environmental (E&E) problems.
There is a need for an E&E Engineer to develop novel and innovative solutions to help resolve current, as well as, future E&E problems.
Energy Engineering involves studying current forms of power generation as well as developing technologies in the field of power generation. These forms of energy need to be used efficiently so that we use less energy in the future while continuing to fulfil the needs of society.
Environmental Engineering is about continuing to reduce and eliminate the harmful impacts that man has on the environment. This involves looking at methods that can be used to control air, water and noise pollution while understanding the principles behind how pollution control technologies work.
Assessment
Students on this type of programme come with a natural interest in their specialism, and the teaching team aims to tap into this interest so students enjoy learning and appreciate the benefits which an engineering degree can add to reinforce their areas of interest.
The assessments for the programme will be a mix of coursework and formal examination. Modules such as group project and Major project will also have presentations where you would be given the opportunity to showcase your work.
Career Opportunities
This industry consists of both small specialists manufacturers and large scale industries. There is a clear market for students to be employed in this field, and the demand for environmental engineering graduates remains high with excellent starting salaries offered to graduates.
