Our four-year Business Management with Economics and Placement Year BSc(Hons) course follows the same first year as the three-year Business Management with Economics BSc(Hons) but also gives you the opportunity to graduate with a year’s paid work experience in industry and a Chartered Management Institute Diploma in Management and Leadership. Along with a foundation in business and management this course enables you to use economic techniques to analyse markets and evaluate business strategies.
You will also have opportunities to explore areas including financial markets, business ethics, game theory and behavioural economics. This course is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute. Opportunities to tailor your learning on the degree course provide excellent preparation for roles in general management and specialist careers. For example: employee relations, marketing, recruitment and selection as well as roles in accountancy, risk management and consultancy, as well as specialist economics careers.
This course would be suitable for students wishing to go into employment (or further study) in areas including: investment banking; insurance and risk management; economic analysis (for example, for corporations, NGOs, the civil service); financial analysis; business consultancy; economic policy. Economists are employed in a range of different industries including: other government departments and think tanks; banks (high street and city); insurance and accountancy firms; consultancies; charitable and non-profit organisations.
