Help people engage in their everyday occupations, through enabling them to lead a fulfilling and healthy life. Our Occupational Therapy degree is inclusive, innovative and transformative, using current evidence-based concepts, practice and a mix of contemporary and traditional learning approaches.We are committed to providing a high-quality educational experience for our students, which recognises the importance of individuality. This occupational therapy programme is accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT). Successful graduates holding our BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy qualification are entitled to apply for registration to practice.At York St John University, students have the opportunity to work with a lecturer on a new or ongoing piece of research. This Student as Co-Researcher (SCoRe) initiative currently has projects in place that work with asylum seekers, refugees, older people in care homes and in the development of a York St John University Occupational Therapy student Continuous Professional Development portfolio.During your final year, you’ll take modules designed to transition you from student to graduate occupational therapist, with the knowledge, skills and values required for practice. You will develop skills in becoming an autonomous learner, global in your outlook, socially responsible, independent and self-aware. Final year students may have the opportunity to complete a practice placement in an international setting. We have excellent working relationships with service providers in countries such as Australia, Uganda, Malta, France and Portugal.You will leave this degree course equipped with the knowledge and skills to take up a career in contemporary occupational therapy practice.
