This course combines an internationally recognised Masters qualification (LLM) with the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) which is a mandatory course for those who wish to become a barrister in England and Wales. Teaching at Northumbria takes full account of today’s globally interconnected world and, for each module, you’ll have access to a range of e-learning resources including discussion forums, reading lists and self-evaluative tasks.
Assessments are designed to encourage a deep and critical approach to learning. They include a formal assessment of oral skills in the Conferencing and Advocacy modules. The assessments will allow you to demonstrate that you have achieved the learning outcomes required by the Bar Standards Board. Once you have successfully completed the course you will have the skills needed to start a pupillage. This will be the next and final stage of your training to become a barrister. At Northumbria, we aim to ensure that you are prepared in every way for pupillage and life as a barrister.
